We have all had problem when we couldn't play HD audio on our WD-TVs
or some other players. This is a tutorial how to convert that HD audio
to DTS so we can enjoy in it.
eac3to- You can download it HERE!
DTS-HD Master Audio Suite- It's not free (try to find cracked)
Transport Stream muxer (tsMuxeR GUI)- You can download it HERE!
MKVToolnix (mkvmerge GUI)- You can download it HERE!
After you download and install all what you need, we can start.
* Open tsMuxeR
* Click "Add" and open the file
* Click on the audio in the file
* Click "Downconvert DTS-HD to DTS"
* Click "Demux"
* And "Start demuxing"
After the process is complete, you will get DTS audio file. Now we need to mux DTS file into MKV file.
* Open mkvmerge GUI
* Click "Add" and load the MKV file in it
* Click "Append" and load the DTS file
* If you don't want original DTS-MA audio, uncheck "A_DTS" file (green). If you want to have dual audio, leave it (check the box)
* Click "Start muxing"
And you are done! Congratulations! Now you can watch your movie and enjoy in it!
Since we now have DTS-HD sound, we first need to convert DTS-HD into WAV files. So if you have movie with 6 channels (5.1 sound), you will have 6 WAV files. If you have movie with 7 channels (6.1 sound), you will have 7 WAV files etc.
The WAV step is only necessary for TrueHD to DTS/DTS-MA conversions because there is no 1-click program available and the DTS encoder only accepts WAV files. For DTS-MA to DTS, there are free and 1-step converter programs available so the WAV step is completely unnecessary (check tutorial above).
After you download and install what you need, we can start.
First what you need to do is to put folder with eac3to somewhere on "C:\Program Files\eac3to". After you are done...
* Click "My Computer" --> "System Properties"
- Control Panel will open
* Click "Advanced system settings" --> go to tab "Advanced" --> "Environment Variables"
- New window will open
* Click "New..." and type this:
- Variable name: PATH
- Variable value: point it where you saved eac3to. I our case is "C:\Program Files\eac3to"
* Click "OK" three times and exit from the settings
Now we can start CMD.
* Click "Start" and type "CMD"
- I will use file "Every.Which.Way.But.Loose.1978.BluRay.1080p.TrueHD.VC1.Remux-HiFi" that is on my desktop!
* Type this syntax (use the quotation marks): eac3to "path\filename.mkv"
- In my case it should look like this: eac3to "C:\Users\MARIO\Desktop\Every.Which.Way.But.Loose.1978.BluRay.1080p.TrueHD.VC1.Remux-HiFi.mkv"
- eac3to will list all streams inside this MKV for you and put numbers next to each (1:, 2:, 3: etc.)
Now find on what number is "TrueHD" stream. In my case that is number two so I will type new syntax:
eac3to "C:\Users\MARIO\Desktop\Every.Which.Way.But.Loose.1978.BluRay.1080p.TrueHD.VC1.Remux-HiFi.mkv" 2: c:\users\mario\desktop\stream\stream.wavs
- Decoding TrueHD should start and decoded mono WAV files will put in the "Stream" folder on your desktop. After few minutes you will see this:
As you can see this movie is with 5.1 sound so we have 6 WAV files (for every speaker one WAV file).
Now what we need is a DTS-HD Master Audio Suite.
* Run DTS-HD MAS and select:
- Destination Format: BluRay disc
- Stream Type: DTS Digital Surround (for DTS sound) or DTS-HD Master Audio (for DTS-MA sound)
- Fill in the input file fields with the WAVs generated in previous step and select output folder and output file name
* Click "Encode" and wait few minutes
The resulting .DTSHD file can be muxed into MKV file with mkvmerge.
* Open mkvmerge GUI
* Click "Add" and load the MKV file in it
* Click "Append" and load the DTS file
* If you don't want original TrueHD audio, uncheck "A_TRUEHD" file (green). If you want to have dual audio, leave it (check the box)
* Click "Start muxing"
And you are done! Congratulations! Now you can watch your movie and enjoy in it!
